---My husband and I have just returned from a two week driving/golfing vacation in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We stayed at B&B's and Inns along the way and I booked each before leaving home. We found the Harbourview Inn listed in "The Doers and Dreamers" guide to Nova Scotia. Although we stayed at several places that had higher ratings, in our opinion, the Harbourview was the best. From the first email from home to make the reservation to our check out from the Inn, our hosts Darren and Vance did everything possible to make our stay perfect. Darren booked our tee time at Digby Pines and then phoned us at home to make sure we were happy with it.
From the time we walked in the door at the Harbourview until we left 2 days later, we felt we had a home away from home. The rooms are cozy and very comfortable with many little extras that mean so much when travelling. The common areas of the marvelous old house are warm and welcoming and the breakfasts in the bright sunroom are beautifully presented and delicious.
We are happy to recommend the Harbourview to anyone travelling in and around the Digby, Nova Scotia area. Smiths Cove is only about a 10 minute drive from Digby and there are also a couple of very good restaurants in the area. Crofton BC

---The Smith's Cove setting of this Inn is a joy. Between the inn and the nearby Hedley House restaurant, we enjoyed a couple days in a community of international travelers whom we saw at breakfast, dinner and in between, always exchanging ideas and opinions of what to do in Nova Scotia, what we were going to do that day, societies, politics, whatever. The hosts at the Harborview participated. Whenever you went to the front of the lodge for coffee, tea, or alcohol, they were there to serve you and sit down and converse for the duration of your drink. They were expansive on available hikes (with several from the front door of the inn), whale tours, whatever was available in the area. From other guests, we easily figured which tour was right for us, and were even given motion-sickness medicine to facilitate the trip. The rooms were airy and expansive. Ours had a harbor view, and what a view it was! The bay has a secluded feel and the scenery was much nicer than in Digby itself. There are also very nice area destinations (Bear River, Annaplolis Royal, Digby to name a few). Yellow Springs, Ohio

---Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor, we wondered if any B&B really could be that good - we were not disappointed. What a wonderful find! The Harbourview is in a great location just across from the beach which our children loved exploring and toasting marshmallows on in the evening - equipment all provided by the Inn. The Harbourview has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere that you immediately feel at home. We stayed in the waterview suite which was very spacious for a family of four. All the rooms we saw were excellent though and would happily have stayed in any of them. The bathroom was spotless and had an excellent shower over the bath - nothing wishy-washy about it. The breakfast each morning was excellent with a different hot choice each day, lovely fresh fruit to start with, cereals, toast and delicious home made jams. Endless juice and coffee. Perfect for setting you up for a long day whale watching which the proprietors Darren and Vance had arranged for us. We went with Brier Island Whale watching and had a fabulous day with lots of whales, and such a beautiful drive down. Be sure to call in at Lake Midway on your way to or from Brier Island - it is a lovely spot and great for a picnic and refreshing swim if the weather is good. We had five days of near perfect weather which was great for using the tennis court and swimming pool which you have access to when staying here. The town of Digby is only a ten minute drive and has two huge supermarkets for picking up picnic items. It has a very pretty harbourfront and some excellent seafood restaurants. Be sure to also visit Bear River and Annapolis Royal whilst you are here.
Darren and Vance will make sure you get the most out of your stay. Nothing seems too much trouble for them - they are so helpful. Evenings are very relaxing there too - with very comfortable lounge areas or relaxing with a drink on the veranda. It was the best part of a three week tour of Canada for us. You will not be disappointed! Surrey, England

---Stayed for 2 nights - about 15 minute drive from Digby and a bit quieter. Room was clean and comfortable and staff were very helpful. Free internet access available and hot and/or cold breakfast included. Would definitely stay here again. Bournemouth, England

---Great place. Rooms clean and tastefully decorated. Place well run and staff very friendly. Breakfast was great. Would stay again. Halifax, NS

---My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. The Inn is very comfortable and welcoming It was conveniently located to be able to see the sights of the area. The breakfasts were very good and served on the enclosed porch. There is free internet - only one computer but it was never busy when I wanted to use it. I would definitely stay here again.
